“It is my goal to make our city safe as possible during the holiday season. As we know our city has grown and a lot more people are using our highways. We ask you to be patient on the roads and exercise caution,” said Chief Jim Luke in the release.

The department is conducting more roadblocks and saturation patrols due to the number of complaints received and the number of accidents that occur daily.

“We would like to lower the number of accidents that we are having during the holiday season,” Capt. Theresa Milar said in the press release.

In the months of November and December 2005 the department reports 208 accidents. In those months the following year the department reports 136 accidents.
