Johnnie “Johnnie-Boy” Foster Lewis

Johnnie Foster Lewis, 72, of Picayune, passed away November 14, 2007 at Highland Community Hospital. He was a native of Columbia, Miss., and a retired Transit Authority Worker of New York City. He was a graduate of George Washington Carver class of 1949, and a United States Navy Veteran.

Viewing will be held Sunday, November 18, 2007 starting at 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Home Chapel, 1011 Rosa Street in Picayune.

Visitation will be Monday, November 19, 2007 starting at 12 noon until 1 p.m. with services immediately following at Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ, 500 Beech St. in Picayune. Officiating at the service will be Elder David Simmons. Interment will follow at Picayune Cemetery.

Mr. Lewis is survived by: his wife of 52 years, Betty Maxwell Lewis; two daughters, Tina Lewis Carter and Valeria Lewis Chamber, both of Picayune; four sons, Don L. Lewis of Picayune, Derrick Gibson, John L. and Rickie Lewis, all of New York City; two adopted sons, Gregory Lewis and Bobby Carter, both of Picayune; two sisters, Ella Allen and Elouise Lewis, both of Picayune; one brother, Willie J. Lewis of Picayune; four grandsons, Torre, Juwon, Markee and Vyron; three granddaughters, Kenya, Danisha and Nekia; five great-grandchildren, Kelton, Alaijah, Kristine, Kimora, and Tahnya.

Brown’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
