A soldier from Jackson has died in a non-combat related incident in Baghdad, the U.S. Department of Defense said Friday.

Spc. Melvin L. Henley Jr., 26, died at Camp Striker in Baghdad on Wednesday of injuries suffered in the incident, the DOD said.

Henley was assigned to the 603rd Aviation Support Battalion, 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.

The incident is under investigation. No other details were immediately available.
