Harvey man arrested in Poplarville for murder

Poplarville Police officers have picked up a man believed to be involved in the stabbing death of a Harvey, La., man.

At about 2 p.m. Tuesday Poplarville police arrested Timothy Santini, 29, of 2120 Missile St., Harvey, La., in conjunction with the stabbing death of Ray Babin, also of Harvey, according to a press release from the Poplarville Police Department.

Allegedly Santini robbed and stabbed Babin before coming to Poplarville for an unknown reason. The release states Santini was located in Babin’s car on Martin Luther King Drive, Poplarville, with the aid of the vehicle’s OnStar system.

According to http://www.wwltv.com/local/stories/wwl112807jbstabbing.49958e62.html, Babin, 60, and Santini were neighbors. Apparently Babin was stabbed in the neck with a kitchen knife by Santini before being robbed.

The story states that Santini had a lengthy rap sheet before being arrested on this latest charge, including attempted car jacking. Santini also had eight warrants out for his arrest for crimes such as theft, aggravated battery and criminal trespass.
