Federal authorities are providing few details about an incident in which a Memphis woman is accused of exchanging gunfire with lawmen attempting to serve a search warrant at a Southaven home.

The incident occurred Friday.

On Monday, federal authorities, who took charge of the case, termed it an ongoing investigation and declined to provide any additional details about what led to the incident.

Kimberly L. Washington, 36, remained in the DeSoto County jail under a $120,000 bond Monday. She faces six counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a weapon.

It was unclear what the search warrant was for, and authorities Monday offered no new information.

Leanne Jordan, a spokeswoman in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, said the case is sealed and would not elaborate.

“It is an ongoing investigation, and we don’t comment on ongoing investigations,” Jordan said.

Federal agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the DeSoto County SWAT team were involved in serving the warrant.

As they tried to serve the warrant, the occupant of the home opened fire at 7:30 a.m. and officers returned fire, but no one was injured, officials said.
