The night before Halloween a Hancock County man who goes by the alias “Frankenstein” is suspected of having shot and killed his wife. Investigators have not given out a motive for the slaying.

Hancock Sheriff Steve Garber said on scene of the crime Tuesday night that his department is currently working the incident as a murder. The shooting took place at about 5:24 p.m. Tuesday night.

The suspect, James David Spiers, also known as “Frankenstein” in the community, allegedly shot his wife Audrey Spiers with an undisclosed type of gun, Garber said. James Spiers is being charged with murder of his wife.

Currently Garber said there is no clear motive and he is unaware of any previous domestic troubles between the husband and wife, but the shooting is still under investigation.

The case will be presented to grand jury and tried in Circuit Court, if James Spiers is indicted, Garber said.
