A two vehicle accident on U.S. 11 killed one driver and injured the other.

According to an accident report from Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop K, on Friday night at about 11:51 a south bound 2002 Ford Taurus and a north bound 1999 Ford F-250 impacted head on.

The report states that the Taurus, driven by Virginia Penton, 54, of Picayune, was driving on the road when the F-250, driven by Sullivan Blanco, 41, of 1220 1/2 Cohen St., Morrero, La., crossed over into Penton’s lane. Both vehicles impacted head on, killing Penton and moderately injuring Blanco.

No reference of alcohol being a factor in the accident was included in the report. Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Sgt. Joe Gazzo said he was not informed if alcohol was a factor, but anytime an accident involves a fatality blood alcohol tests are conducted with the Mississippi Crime Lab. Results are not available at press time.
