Oxford Police Chief Mike Martin said that while he could not go into detail about the case, he was able to say that Bonner is not a student at Ole Miss and that the shooting took place at Taylor Pointe Apartments in Oxford.

While Martin said Bonner had a Picayune address on his driver’s license, Bonner also was described as having an Oxford address in the press release.

“Right now he’s residing at the Lafayette County Detention Center,” Martin said.

Lockhart was a gold medal winner in the 1,600 meter relay team in the 2006 World Junior Championships held in Beijing, according to the AP story. His body was found shot to death on Sept. 29, at the apartment building close to the Universtiy of Mississippi campus.

A suspect in Mississippi can be charged with capital murder if officials suspect another felony was committed in conjunction with the murder, according to the AP story. The story did not state what the other felony was.

Martin said the case is still under investigation so further information would not be released at press time.
