Jackson State University’s marching band will not perform at Saturday’s football game at Southern University because its activities have been suspended by the college.

Jackson television station WJTV reported Tuesday the suspension follows alleged hazing involving some Sonic Boom of the South band members.

JSU spokesman Anthony Dean said no physical attacks had been reported. He said the university is investigating the allegation.

The suspension affects all 220 members of the band who were scheduled to perform in Baton Rouge, La., during the Tigers’ football game against Southern.

Dean said officials have not determined how long the investigation will take or whether the suspension will be extended to other games.
