I, Anthony Hales would like to take this opportunity to announce my candidacy for re-election as Supervisor District One, Pearl River County. I am married to the former Carrie Richards of Picayune for 23 years. We are the parents of three young adults: Daniel, U.S. Army (Iraq); Anthony Jr., Jackson and Valerie, Poplarville High School, senior. I graduated from Poplarville High School in 1973 with honors and attended Jackson State University. I am a member of Triumph Missionary Baptist Church were my main focus is in the music ministry.

My work experience covered several fields. I worked in operations at Hess Refinery, cable technician at South Central Bell, and production at the Mississippi Army Ammunition Plant. My vast work experiences have helped me understand the value of supervising and scheduling work.

My experience in public office spans a period of 22 years. I served as an alderman for the City of Poplarville from 1985 to 1995 and as supervisor of District One in Pearl River County from 1996 until present.

In my years of public office, I have watched Pearl River County slowly begin to transform itself and I have seen how it affected the lives of some people. Planning has been done to address issues before they become serious, but then came Katrina and things changed quickly. As bad as some may think things were, if it had not been for the work of some good citizens and cooperation among local elected officials, things would have been worse and recovery much slower.

Change is not painless, but it comes. I feel that one has to be aware of change and flexible enough to adapt and usher in the inevitable. No one knows it all nor possesses the answer to every problem. Experience gives you knowledg,e but wisdom comes when one learns to apply the knowledge that has been acquired. I have gained knowledge and have tried to use wisdom in my service to the voters of Pearl River County.

If you want results not rhetoric, solutions not sensationalism, vision not vendettas, and progress not propaganda, I ask for your continued support and the opportunity to continue serving you as your supervisor for District One.

Thank you.
