Alvin “A.V.” Stockstill

Alvin “A.V.” Stockstill, 87, of Picayune passed away Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Collins, Miss.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Sycamore Baptist Church in Carriere, with the Rev. Harry Burge officiating. Visitation will be held Monday evening, October 22 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Picayune Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Sycamore Cemetery under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home.

A.V. was a lifetime resident of Picayune, a U.S. Army WWII Veteran, a retired minister, and a member of Derby Place Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Katie Lee Stockstill; his son, James Stockstill; and a grandson, Bryan Stockstill.

He is survived by his son: Kenneth I. Stockstill of Gulfport; two brothers: Mitch Stockstill and W.D “Rusty” Stockstill, both of Picayune; three grandchildren: Brent Stockstill of Hattiesburg, Bruce Herrington of Hattiesburg, and Timothy Stockstill of Gulfport; and one great-grandson, Aaron Herrington of Hattiesburg.

Arrangements are under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home.
