A Lee County grand jury has indicted seven people in the shooting death of 27-year-old Travis Brown.

Authorities say Brown and several others were at a Tupelo home May 11 when someone knocked. Brown opened the door and was shot several times in the abdomen.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports that three people were indicted on capital murder charges: 19-year-old James Knowles of Plantersville, 22-year-old Christopher G. Hughes of Nettleton, and 23-year-old Jason Bernard Matthew of Okolona.

Three people were indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and one was indicted on possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Tupelo detective Capt. Bart Aguirre says Knowles, Hughes and Matthew will remain in jail until trial, and the others were awaiting bond hearings.
