Over $3M for Biloxi Katrina projects
Two hurricane recovery projects in Biloxi have will receive more than three-and-a-half million dollars in federal funds.
Senators Trent Lott and Thad Cochran say the funding package will be administered through the Federal Emergency Management Agency and will assist in the rebuilding of Mercy Cross High School and with restoration of a fishing pier in Biloxi.
Cochran says that while much has been accomplished in the two years since Hurricane Katrina slammed the Gulf Coast, much more reconstruction remains to be completed.
The Republican senators say more than one million dollars will be used to replace Mercy Cross High School’s classroom and administration building.
The remaining funds will help Biloxi repair the old D’Iberville bridge fishing pier.
