An Ocean Springs woman has been charged with capital murder in the shooting death of a Vancleave man.

Sheriff Mike Byrd said Wednesday that Kasie Jones, 32, was arrested this week at the restaurant where she works. He said Jones is being charged in the shooting of Dennis Ray Galle and not as an accomplice.

“We believe that she took part in the shooting,” Byrd said. “We have suspected her from the start.”

Jones is the second person arrested in the case. Steven Lee Strange, 32, has been charged with capital murder in the robbery and death of Galle, 47, who was found shot in the head on his front porch in Vancleave in July.

Strange and Jones were being held without bond in the Jackson County jail on Thursday, because judges in Jackson County don’t assign bond in capital murder cases. Both are waiting for their cases to go before the grand jury.

Galle had an engine-repair business at his home. He had employed Strange for about three weeks before he was killed on July 17, Byrd said.

Strange, who lived in the Vancleave area, was arrested the next day.
