A fire at Gene’s Tire Center on Memorial Boulevard is suspected to have been caused by arson.
At about midnight Saturday Picayune fire fighters responded to the service center to extinguish flames as they poured out of the front windows of the business. Picayune Fire Marshall Pat Weaver said a fire wall protected the rear of the building. Fire fighters extinguished flames at the front of the building shortly after arriving on scene.
Weaver said arson is suspected to be the cause of the fire, but it is still under investigation. Weaver said he received information that a suspect was in custody but the Picayune Police Department did not return phone calls from the Picayune Item Tuesday morning to obtain further information.
