A two-vehicle accident on Interstate 59 took the life of one driver.
The accident occurred at 7 a.m. Sundayat about the one mile marker in the north bound lane. Two vehicles, both in the north bound lane, impacted causing the accident, said Mississippi Highway Patrol Information Officer Joe Gazzo.
The accident involved a 2001 Ford driven by Clarence McCraney, 79 of Covington and a 2000 Dodge Durango driven by Nickolette Jenkins, 27, of Picayune, Gazzo said. The Dodge hit the rear of the Ford, causing the Ford to flip several times, killing McCraney. Jenkins suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Highland Community Hospital, Gazzo said.
Gazzo would not comment whether alcohol was involved in the accident but did say the incident is under investigation and blood has been drawn for testing.
