Residents are being asked to help compile Mississippi’s 10 favorite architectural structures statewide.

The list is the state’s version of the American Institute of Architects’ America’s Favorite Architecture list across the country. On the national list, the Empire State Building ranked first among the 150 structures across the country.

The state AIA chapter is taking votes on its Web site — www.aiams.org — until Sept. 3, said Joe Blake, executive director for the AIA chapter.

“Folks can vote as often as they wish, but can only cast a vote for five sites per visit. The top 12 will be announced shortly after voting ends,” Blake said.

Among the landmarks on the list are four from the Mississippi coast: the Biloxi Lighthouse, Beauvoir, Mary Mahoney’s and Pinecote Pavilion.
