There was a four vehicle accident on Highway 11 in the Ozona community around noon Friday that backed up traffic for half a mile, but no fatalities were involved.

According to the police report, a 2005 Toyota driven by Bobby Spiker, 22 of Carriere, rear-ended a Toyota Tacoma, driven by Mark Spiers, 41 of Carriere. That collision pushed the Tacoma into the rear end of a Pontiac driven by a 16-year old local driver.

At that point, a 1991 gray Mazda van driven by O’neil Folse III, 43 of Poplarville, struck Spiker’s Toyota in the rear. Joe Gazzo, Public Information Officer for the Mississippi State Highway Patrol, said he did not know if the Pontiac driven by Fore was stopped for some reason, or just driving slowly. The report stated the cause of the accident as “following too close”.

Folse and Spiker were taken to Highland Community Hospital for severe back and neck pain. Five unnamed passengers in Folse’s van were also taken to Highland with minor pain. There were no other injuries, said Gazzo.
