Three-vehicle accident injures five

An accident on Mississippi 43 North involved three vehicles and injured about five people.

The accident took place Tuesday at about 7 p.m. at about the 3500 block on Miss. 43 N. At that time two vehicles were traveling southbound towards Picayune when the vehicle driven by Bennie Tessenair, 18, 369 Sycamore Road, Carriere, impacted the rear of a vehicle driven by Chelci Folds, 17, of 4212 34th Ave., E. Bradenton, Fla., according to a report from the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

The impact occurred as Folds stopped to make a left turn. Tessenair’s vehicle pushed Folds into the path of a northbound vehicle driven by Brett Barnes, 20, of 1236 Caesar Rd., Carriere. Barnes and Folds hit head on, which totaled Barnes’ vehicle, the report states.

Tessenair, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained lacerations to his forehead, the report states. Levi Jenkins, 19, of 202 Richardson Rd., who was riding with Tessenair and also did not have on his seatbelt, suffered a fractured left leg. A passenger with Chelci Folds, Troy Folds, 15, of 147 Eloise St., was taken to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg along with Jenkins, the report states. Tessenair, Chelci Folds and Edwin Speer, 20, of 145 Lookout Lane, Kinsey, Ala., who also was riding with Folds, were taken to Highland Community Hospital.
