Juvenile dies unexpectedly

A juvenile died Thursday morning from undetermined causes in the Nicholson area.

Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Julie Flowers said they got call concerning a sick juvenile Thursday at about 9:37 a.m. at Cliff Mitchell Road, Lot 17.

Upon arrival, deputies met with Emergystat personnel who were working on the juvenile who was not breathing. Emergystat personnel brought him to Highland Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Flowers said the coroner’s office was notified and an investigation into the matter is uderway. Deputy Coroner Derek Turnage said an autopsy should be completed by 5:30 p.m. Friday when the cause of death will be determined.

Flowers said the results of that autopsy, deputy reports and the coroner’s report will be submitted to the District Attorney’s office to see if the case needs to be presented to the Grand Jury.
