Funeral services were scheduled Thursday for former Mississippi first lady Zelma Finch, who died Tuesday at her Batesville home. She was 81.
The cause of death was not released. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Dickins Funeral Home chapel.
Zelma Finch was the widow of former Gov. Cliff Finch, who served from 1976-80 and who died in 1986.
Mike Amis, a longtime family friend who ran the Mississippi Agricultural and Industrial Board, now the Mississippi Development Authority, during the Finch administration, said Wednesday that Zelma Finch was “a fine lady.”
“She taught school here in Batesville and was a dedicated wife and mother to her kids,” Amis said.
Survivors include two sons; two daughters; a sister; a brother; and five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
