A motorcycle versus pickup truck accident on Mississippi 43 South took the life of the man operating the motorcycle.

The accident took place Thursday at about 9:06 p.m. at the intersection of Jeff Wheat Road and Miss. 43 S.

A Ford Ranger Pickup truck traveling east on Miss. 43 S. was attempting to turn onto Jeff Wheat Road and did so into the path of a motorcycle traveling west on Miss. 43 S., Picayune Police Deputy Chief David Ervin said.

A crash ensued and the driver of the motorcycle, identified as Kelly C. Kolberg, 35, 23120 Road 294, Picayune, was severely injured. He was taken to Highland Community Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries, Ervin said.

The driver of the truck was identified as Keith L. Brunner, 22, 123 Elm St., Picayune.

Drugs and alcohol were not suspected to be involved in the accident, however blood was taken from both drivers for testing by the Mississippi Crime Lab. At press time no charges have been filed. The accident is still under investigation, Ervin said.
