The Resurrection Life Worship Center is holding a blood drive for four-year-old cancer patient Christian Licciardi. Christian and his parents live in Picayune, along with his eight-month-old sister. In August 2006, Christian was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a cancer of the nerve tissues. He received six rounds of chemotherapy at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans and had multiple blood transfusions. He is currently receiving further treatment in New York.
The Blood Center will be at Resurrection Life, 795 Memorial Blvd., from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday June 10th. Christian’s family is asking healthy individuals who are at least 17 years of age and 110 pounds to donate blood. Donating blood is safe, simple and easy. The entire process takes less than an hour, with the actual donation lasting approximately ten minutes. Up to 60% of the population is eligible to donate blood, but only 5% actually do.
The Blood Center is a non-profit community service organization serving over 30 hospitals and outpatient facilities throughout Southeastern Louisiana and Southern Mississippi. For more information, please call The Blood Center at (800) 86-BLOOD or visit www.thebloodcenter.org.
