One of the three suspects in a fatal shooting in Moss Point this week was in custody Thursday after surrendering to police.
Police Det. Jeff Smith said Edward Brown of Moss Point, whose age was not available, was being held in the city jail pending an initial court appearance. Smith said Brown turned himself in on Tuesday.
Police have also issued arrest warrants for Jarris Thames, 21, and Kevin Byrd, 21, both of Moss Point.
The three have been charged for the murder of Ranada Davis, 30, who died Monday at Singing River Hospital from a single gunshot wound to the head.
Smith said the suspects’ vehicle, a white Honda Accord with gold trim, was found Tuesday in Grand Bay, Ala., at Byrd’s father’s home. Smith said Alabama lawmen are searching Mobile County for Thames and Byrd or for any additional information.
“We don’t know if the others are together or any kind of vehicle information,” Smith said.
Smith said it appears that the shooting stems from a previous altercation between Thames and Davis. The department is not releasing any additional details about the events of the shooting, Smith said.
