The U.S. Navy awarded Northrop Grumman Corporation with a $20 million contract for follow-yard services for the USS Arleigh Burke class Aegis destroyer program.

The contract is for technical and engineering support services, including Aegis destroyer design upgrades, planning and technical support, and crew indoctrination and orientation, a statement from Northrop Grumman said Wednesday.

The $20.7 million contract consists of a base year and four option years with a total potential contract value of $75 million if all options are exercised.

“This reinforces the Navy’s commitment to Northrop Grumman’s expertise and technical support on the follow-yard services contract,” George Nungesser, program manager of Aegis destroyers, said in the statement.

Northrop Grumman has delivered 24 destroyers to the Navy, with four ships remaining in construction. The Pascagoula facility will christen Truxtun on June 2. Kidd will be commissioned in Galveston, Texas on June 9.
