A car crash at Hide-A-Way Lake Tuesday resulted in damage to a home and the arrest of a Hide-A-Way resident, said Capt. Chris Lott of the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday.

Harvey S. Mitchell, 43, of 207 Rollingwood Drive in Hide-A-Way Lake, fled the scene on foot when his white Chevrolet Suburban crashed into a house at 205 Rollingwood Dr. around noon on Tuesday. The sport-utility vehicle struck a power pole before hitting the front of the home, said Lott.

Deputies began investigating the whereabouts of Mitchell, Lott said, and found him early Wednesday around 4:40 a.m. while investigating a report of a trespasser at 2 Keri Lane, Carriere.

Mitchell was found asleep in a shed on the property, Lott said. Mitchell previously had been warned by the owner and a deputy to stay off the property, Lott said.

Mitchell was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident and trespassing, said Lott.

Lott would not confirm the name of the resident whose house was hit, but according to a phone book listing, 205 Rollingwood Dr is the residence of Timothy “Tim” Prince.
