Police have arrested a suspect in Friday’s holdup of a Trustmark Bank branch in northwest Jackson.
Police Sgt. Jeffrey Scott said the money taken in the robbery was found under an abandoned house.
Scott said Denzel Collins, 20, of Jackson, has been charged with bank robbery and was being held Friday in the Madison County Jail pending an initial court appearance.
Scott said a man walked into the bank, gave the clerk a note demanding money, and the clerk obeyed. He said the man was arrested within minutes after the 10 a.m. robbery.
For an unknown reason, the robber then fired a shot into the ceiling, Scott said.
No one was injured.
