Susan Meta Whetzel

Susan Meta Whetzel, 53, of Keyser, WV, formerly of Poplarville, died Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the WMHS-Braddock Campus, Cumberland, MD.

Born on March 29, 1954 in San Francisco, Calif., she was a daughter of the late Earl Z. and Sigrid Martha (Helm) Smith.

Mrs. Whetzel was a homemaker and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Picayune. She enjoyed the home shopping networks, current events and news channels on television, but one of the greatest enjoyments of her life was her family and taking care of her husband, children and grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband of 19 years, Theodore A. “Ted” Whetzel; one son, Jerry “Glynn” Knight, Jr. of Keyser; three daughters, Alison Lynn Gipson and husband Roy of Poplarville, Martha Joyce “Marty” Elliott and husband Chris of Wiggins, and Pamela Jo Berg and husband Jeff of Petersburg, W. Va.; one brother, Peter A. Smith and wife Odessia of Keyser; one sister, Stephanie S. Knight and husband Kenneth of Poplarville; six grandchildren, Hilary Gipson, Hannah Knight, Kaiden Lee, Kolby and Mariah Elliott and Austin Berg; two nieces and two nephews.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday, April 24 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Wednesday, April 25 at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
