Open house set for county, city flood risk revisions

The general public is invited to a public hearing to learn more about floodplain management in Picayune and Pearl River County.
The Pearl River County Board of Supervisors and the City of Picayune hve been told by the Federal Emergency Management Agency that it is revising the flood hazard information for Pearl River County.
A public meeting to discuss the details of thek revisions to the flood map is at 5:30 p.m. today at Picayune City Hall, 815 North Beech St. The meeting will provide county residents with an opportunity to review a recently completed preliminary Flood Insurance Study and its accompanying preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps. Maps and detailed analysis of the flood hazard mapping revision can be reviewed at Picayune City Hall, Poplarville City Hall, Pearl River County Courthouse and at the county’s Department of Planning and Development.
