The two year-old boy who was injured in the Tuesday accident on Caesar died Thursday as a result of his injuries.
Capt. Chris Lott with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department said he received word from Children’s Hospital in New Orleans that the boy died at 11:20 a.m. Thursday. The boy’s name will not be released.
The accident occurred Tuesday at about 1:05 p.m. on Ceasar Road, south of West Union Road. Apparently a 2002 Nissan Sentra and a Ford F-250 truck hit head on, injuring the driver of the Nissan, Jamie Lilly, 20, her one year-old son and the passenger of the Nissan Christie Segraves, 23, and her now deceased two year-old son. Both children were in car seats in the back seat of the vehicle.
Segraves was pregnant during the accident but lost the baby a short time after the accident. Later that same day Segraves died.
Lilly’s one year-old son is listed as in stable condition and is expected to recover, Lott said. Lilly was reported to have suffered a broken leg, said Major Aaron Russell in a previous interview.
At press time no charges have been filed but the accident is still under investigation, Lott said. A cause of the accident is pending upon the completion of the accident reconstruction being performed by the Mississippi Highway Patrol, he said. The reconstruction should be completed in the near future.
The two men in the F-250, James Rasco, 35, and Shaun Palmtree 34, both of Picayune, were treated and released the same day.
