The man reported as missing this past weekend actually has been in the Picayune jail child molestation charges.

A press release from the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department stated that Kelaani A. Samiia, 41, of 2419 E. Canal Rd., was listed as missing since Wednesday, March 14. Deputy Chief David Ervin said Samiia was picked up on March 14 at about 11:22 a.m. for two counts of felony child molestation and booked into the city jail.

Samiia’ wife reported him as missing on Thursday, March 15, according to a release from the Sheriff’s Department.

Capt. Chris Lott said the deputy who took the report checked with the county jail to see if Samiia was in their custody, but did not check with Picayune’s jail. Lott said he will require deputies to check with both jails from now on.
