A man had to be hospitalized following a shooting that took place in the Lee Town community Wednesday night.

Apparently Jerry Willis Sr., 33 was visiting Ronald Chambers, 67, of 27237 Hugh Lee Rd., Wednesday night in Hancock County when Willis was shot by Chambers, said Kenny Hurt, a Hancock County Sheriff’s Department investigator. Authorities believe an argument took place between the two that night and apparently when Willis was about to leave in his van Chambers shot Willis through the windshield. The bullet hit Willis in the left upper shoulder.

“So it didn’t hit any major items,” Hurt said.

Willis was taken to the hospital and later released.

Hurt said the wound may have not been fatal due to the bullet passing through the windshield first.

Chambers has been charged with aggravated assault, Hurt said.
