Hornets snap streak

Poplarville snapped a six game losing streak Saturday afternoon, knocking off visiting D’Iberville 8-4.
Brock Matthews (1-1) picked up the win for the Hornets, who stand 5-7 after the win.
Dustin Touchet drove in four runs for the Hornets with a double and a single, while Thatcher Lee colected a triple and a single. Jeremy Matthews chipped in a double and Jacob Hariel had an RBI as well.
Saturday’s win came after the Hornets dropped their fourth straight Division 8-4A game on Friday night, falling 5-3 at home to St. Stanislaus.
Rockachaw pitcher Boomer Scarborough picked up his second straight league win, scattering six hits and striking out three. He is 2-1.
Scarborough also was key at the plate for St. Stanislaus, as he had a pair of hits and drove in three runs. The Rocks are 3-1 and stand in second place in the division, behind Long Beach which leads the race at 6-0.
Jonathan Anderson took the loss for Poplarville, and he stands 2-3 on the year. Touchet had a big game Friday night at the plate as well, as he had two singles and drove in alll three Hornet runs. Ashley Graeter added a double for Poplarville.
The Hornets played Sumrall in a game Saturday night, and will return to action on Tuesday in Division 8-4A play by hosting Pearl River Central.
