George Washington “G.W.” Smith

George Washington “G.W.” Smith, age 74, of Picayune died Friday, March 2, 2007 in Picayune.

The funeral service will be Monday, March 5th at 2 p.m. at Lee’s Chapel #1 with Rev. Donnie Boutwell officiating, assisted by Rev. Danny Nance and Rev. Bryan Williams. Burial will follow at Lee’s Chapel #1 Cemetery under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, March 4th from 6-10 p.m. and Monday, March 5th from 10-12 a.m. at Picayune Funeral Home and Monday, March 5th from 1-2 p.m. at Lee’s Chapel #1.

G.W. was born in Union Church, Mississippi and moved to this area fifty years ago from Brookhaven. He was a mechanic and retired bus driver. He was a member of Lee’s Chapel #1, where he was a Deacon.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Smith of Picayune; two sons, George(Bridgett) Smith of Petal and Daryl(Allison) Smith of Henleyfield; three daughters, Diane(Bruce) Burge of Picayune, Faye(Videt) Robbins of Nicholson and Hope Walton of Picayune; three brothers, Tommy C. Smith of Picayune, Donald Smith of Natchez, and Harold Smith of Ellisville; one sister, Flora Mae Walker of Picayune, eight grandchildren, Kris(Jessica) Robbins, Brandon Robbins, Allison Burge, Stephanie Bruge, Justin Miller, Jacob Spiers, Blake Spiers, and Jonathan Smith; and one great-grandchild, Karson Robbins.

Picayune Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
