Prosecutors said Fryou stabbed Devriendt more than 50 times during an argument. He also is accused of stealing Devriendt’s truck and $1,200. The men had worked together on roofing jobs.

Testifying Wednesday, Fryou said he stabbed Devriendt but did not steal his wallet.

Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty.
