The body of a woman believed to have been involved in a vehicle accident was discovered at the I-59 north scales.

According to a press release from the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation agents are working to positively identify the body of a Hispanic female found at a Pearl River County weigh station the night of Feb. 9. The woman, in her early to mid 30s, is believed to be the victim of a vehicle accident, MBI Director Lt. Col. David Shaw said.

Shaw said an autopsy was performed Feb. 10 but declined to discuss the details, citing the confidentiality of ongoing investigations.

A truck driver contacted authorities to report discovering the body at the scales on Interstate 59 north in Pearl River County, just across the Mississippi-Louisiana state line, Shaw said.

Shaw said the results of the MBI investigation will be turned over to the district attorney’s office.
