Three more arrests made by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department

Three more incidents wrapped up what turned out to be a busy week for the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department in squelching drug activity.

The first of the three incidents occurred on Monday, when a search warrant was served on a residence in the county, according to a release from the department. The warrant was served at the home of Kelly Lanasa, 35, of 4 Jan Dr., Carriere where deputies tied up several months of investigative work, the release states.

During the search, deputies found about two ounces of marijuana, scales, baggies and other items used in the sale of narcotics, the release states. Lanasa was charged with two counts of the sale of marijuana, sale of cocaine and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Chief Investigator Chris Lott said that the department had purchased powder cocaine from Lanasa on one ocassion and marijuana from her on two ocassions.

More than a month’s worth of investigative work provided a search warrant for the second arrest, Lott said. The warrant was served Thursday at 775 Henleyfield McNeill Rd., Carriere where two individuals were charged, the release states.

During the search deputies found one suspect, Jeremy Jarrell, 24, of 775 Henleyfield-McNeill Rd. trying to hide less than an ounce of marijuana under his mattress, Lott said. Investigators also were able to secure a lock box with numerous dosage units of Methadone, which belonged to Joshua Jarrell, 26, also of 775 Henleyfield-McNeill Rd., according to the release.

Jeremy Jarrell was charged with possession of marijuana while Joshua Jarrell was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute within 1,500 feet of a church, the release states.

The last incident also occurred on Thursday, when deputies patrolling the Mississippi 26 in the Cross Roads community conducted a careless driving traffic stop, the release states. During the search of an occupant, Chad Magee, 31, of 308 Barnett St., Poplarville was found to be in possession of about five grams of cocaine, the release states. Magee was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
