Picayune school board meets Tuesday

The school board for the Picayune Municipal School District meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the board room at the district’s central offices, 706 Goodyear Blvd.

Consider personnel matters.

Consider consent items:

— Amended budget and financial statement.

— Payroll certification.

— Claims dockets.

— Obsolete items.

— Out-of-state travel requests.

— Sole source purchase orders.

— Donations.

— Student transfer requests.

Consider finance:

— 16th section.

— Bids for garbage disposal services.

— Close petty cash and inspect aid checking accounts.

— Advertise for bank depository

— Bid for food service equipment.

— Contract with Gulf Coast Education Initiative Consortium with Project Alert II.

Consider transportation department requests:

— Receive quotes for three buses.

— Advertise to sell obsolete buses.

Consider oral health procedures for Early Head Start.

Consider revised asbestos continuing service contract with Pickering Environmental.

Consider 2nd hearing on school wellness policy.

Consider grants:

— Applications to Target for $1,000 for Nicholson Elementary field trips, and to Best Buy for $15,000 for a rolling lab for Roseland Park Elementary.

— Accept $1,000 from Target for Nicholson Elementary; $2,500 from Jordan Fundamentals for an outdoor classroom project; $6,000 from Stennis Space Center for the First Robotics Team; $950 from Toshiba for “Air: It’s Matter of Matter” for Roseland Park Elementary; and $100,000 from Chevron.

Consider installing playground equipment at West Side Elementary.

Consider requesting a new scoreboard and clock from Hattiesburg Coca-Cola.

Consider waiving auditorium fees for the Hancock Junior Miss program Feb. 22-24; senior project “Showcase of the Stars;” and U.S. Army marching band on Thursday, March 29.
