A Picayune resident has been charged with child molestation, apparently not for the first time.
Wednesday during the Picayune municipal court session Picayune resident Lonnie Mark Faulk, 44, of 202 S. Jackson Ave., was charged with child molestation. His bond was set at $40,000 and a preliminary hearing was set for Wednesday, Jan. 17, if Faulk does not make bond. If he makes bond, a preliminary hearing won’t be needed and the case will go on to circuit court in Poplarville.
According to circuit court records, Faulk was tried twice on charges of child molestation and sexual battery in 2004. District Attorney Hal Kittrell said the case went to trail two times, with each trial ending in a mistrial. After the second trial, prosecutors determined that it would be difficult to sustain the burden of proof for a third trial.
