A Biloxi man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the kidnapping and unlawful touching of a 14-year-old girl.

Lee D. Nix, 43, was convicted Wednesday in Harrison County Circuit Court.

Judge Steve Simpson gave Nix 10 years for each count and ordered him to serve the sentences consecutively.

The girl testified at the trial, along with Investigator Susan Kimball, who said police identified Nix’s vehicle by witness descriptions.

The girl testified that she was walking along a road on Sept. 25, 2005, when a man drove by and tried to get her to get into his car. The girl said she walked away and thought the man had left. The man, however, parked his car, got out, approached her and dragged her behind a building, according to testimony.

The girl struggled with him and managed to get away. The inappropriate touching occurred while she was held against her will, prosecutors said.

The girl told some friends and pointed out the man and his car, prosecutors said.

Police said they used the vehicle description to help identify Nix. They arrested him a short while later at his home, about two miles away.

Police said they found a footprint on his car in the spot where the friend said he had kicked it. The friend also testified during the two-day trial.

Simpson also ordered Nix to register as a sex offender once he serves his time in prison.
