Telly Road returns to two way
While the situation is still under analysis, Telly Road has been restored to it’s former glory as Picayune’s favorite shortcut.
During the holiday season Telly Road is again a two-way connection between U.S. 11 and Memorial Boulevard. After the holidays, the two-way function of Telly Road is expected to remain, said Picayune City Manager Ed Pinero.
During the holidays, the Mississippi Department of Transportation will not be able to do their assessment of the issues at the intersections of Bruce Street and U.S. 11 and Memorial Boulevard and U.S. 11. Traffic light adjustments and the possible addition of a turning lane in front of Winn Dixie were planned for those intersections to improve some of the traffic flow but MDOT will consider them until after the holidays. That delay prompted the change on Telly Road back to a two-way street with no barricades, Pinero said.
Plans to make Telly Road in to a one way street were made before Hurricane Katrina last year but the increased traffic since the storm has pushed those plans back, Pinero said.
