Richard is 8-4A MVP

Picayune was by far the best football team in Division 8-4A this season, and the all division teams reflects just that.
The Maroon Tide, which went 9-0 in the regular season and 11-1 overall, had 11 selections on the on the all-star squad, which was officially announced Wednesday.
Picayune standout tailback Albert Richard, who ran for 2,078 yards and scored 33 touchdowns, was named offensive MVP in the division.
Other Maroon Tide offensiveplayers named to the squad were offensive tackles James Brady and Jonathan Billups, tight end Dale Meitzler, wide receiver Justin Griffith and placekicker Irvin Gonzalez.
Defensively, linebackers Levi Slaydon and T’Darryl Greys, and defensive backs Chance Griffith and Drew Cole were named to the all-division team as was lineman Steven Kellar.
The Maroon Tide coaching staff was also selected as best in the division. All the selections were made by the coaches in the league.
Poplarville, which finsihed 8-4 on the year and made it to the second round of the Class 4A state playoffs, was also well represented on the all league team.
Hornet running back Ike Bowden, who rushed for over 1,300 yards, was picked on offense as was fellow running back Brandon Peters who was chosen as a utility player.
Safety Joel Bilbo and end Tyler Breland were picked for the defensive team from Poplarville.
Also, Pearl River Central placed several players on the prestigious team as well, as cornerback Warren House, defensive lineman Daniel Hayden and punter Adam Herrin were selected all-division.
