NJROTC enjoys N’awlins Air Show

On October 20, 2006, Pearl River Central NJROTC attended the return of the N’awlins Air Show at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base (NAS JRB) located in Belle Chasse, LA.

The base was opened up to the public so that residents and guests could experience the artistic and highly technical skills of pilots who rank as one of the world’s best aerobatic flyers.

Performing at the air show were some hometown pilots from Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 204 the River Rattlers of the Louisiana Air National Guard, Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans and Marine Air Group (MAG) 42.

At the air show were several activities for the ROTC group to enjoy such as a rock-climbing wall and a Marine recruiters’ booth with a pull-up challenge. Meghan Werner held her body weight up for 80 seconds, and Alex Dawsey performed 18 pull ups.

There were also several booths serving food and selling t-shirts, hats, and other items.

The event had an estimated 35,000 to attend during the three days.
