‘Promote the Vote’ mock election set for next week
Mississippi school children will get to cast ballots next Tuesday in the “Promote the Vote” mock election.
Secretary of State Eric Clark has sponsored the annual event since 1996. It’s designed to increase young people’s awareness of the electoral process.
“We hope to help build a new generation of voters for the future,” Clark said in a news release.
Students can cast mock ballots in the four U.S. House races and one U.S. Senate race. The actual election is Nov. 7.
More than 67,000 students from more than 200 schools have signed up. The mock election is open to children from all types of schools.
