Power outage from transmission service

Last weekend some electricity customers in Pearl River County lost power due a problem with transmission service between two power companies.
Coast Electric Communications Assistant April Lollar said the problem Saturday night was due to a problematic Mississippi Power switch tower that feeds Coast Electric customers. That problem caused the Pigott substation to lose power for about two hours from 7:20 to about 9:30 p.m. cutting power to 2,123 meters in the area, she said. Affected areas included Pine Grove, Rock Ranch, Burnt Bridge, Miss. 43 N. and the surrounding areas, Lollar said.
The problem for about half of the customers was remedied by switching transmission of electricity to another substation, providing the customers with electricity within an hour. The remaining customers were back up with in two hours, Lollar said.
