This year the holiday that means free candy to kids will be celebrated on the day it is meant to be, Tuesday, Oct. 31.
In previous years the placement of Halloween has sometimes forced city officials to ask parents and children to practice the holiday over the weekend. This year the holiday that is about scaring people and trick or treating will be on its official day.
Picayune City Manager Ed Pinero said that Picayune Police will be out for children’s safety from 6 to 8:30 p.m.. Pinero said that for people’s safety, they ask that people start to head home shortly after 8:30 p.m.
“That’ll give people time to get home safely after dark and so we can provide proper safety,” Pinero said.
