Tree limb blamed for mans death

A logger was killed on Labor Day by a falling limb while doing tree removal work.
On Sept. 4 at about 5:58 the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department received a call concerning an accident at the Old River Management area off of Mississippi 43 N., according to a release from the department.
When deputies arrived they were advised by a co-worker that Robert Cowan, 47, of Thomasville Ala., was found hurt under a large tree limb, the report states. Cowan was a logger in the area conducting tree removal work for the state.
Cowan was pronounced dead by the county coroner at the scene, the release states.
