Former Hancock High standout and University of Southern Mississippi women’s basketball player Ashley Boehnel has decided not to return to the team for personal reasons, according to head coach Joye Lee- McNelis.

Boehnel, a 5-10 guard/forward, was one of three players to start and play in all 29 games last season.

She finished the season second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.9 points and 3.9 rebounds.

Boehnel earned all-state honors in 2003 when she led the Lady Hawks to the Class 4A state championship.
