The school board for the Pearl River County School District approved changing their Monday, Sept. 4 Labor Day meeting to Thursday, Sept. 7.

Superintendent Dennis Penton advised the board during his superintendent’s report that they should change the date of the meeting to Tuesday, Sept. 5. However, since at least one board member will not be able to attend a Sept. 5 meeting, the board approved to change the meeting date to Sept. 7.

Penton also showed the board photographs of the renovations taking place on the football field house.

“This is now going to be very functional for the kids. We reused some of the tiles from our other projects, upgraded the lighting, which also made a big difference, and made several other improvements. I think this building will now be something that we can be proud of and that we will want to invite other schools and teams to come visit,” Penton said.

In other business, the board:

— Approved advertising for sealed bids for two green houses for the Pearl River Central High School Vocational Dept. funded by the District’s vocational funds.

— Approved resignations for the 2006-2007 school year.
