A Natchez man has been indicted in the city’s first murder of the year and is accused of beating a man to death in his driveway.
John Christopher Case, 29, was indicted Wednesday in the beating death of 38-year-old Dean Arnold Jr.
Sheriff Ronny Brown said the Adams County Sheriff’s Office jailed Case, but he was later released on an undisclosed bond. A hearing was set for Aug. 24.
Police say the two men allegedly fought in the driveway of Case’s home. Arnold sustained severe head injuries and died in an ambulance on the way to a local hospital, police reports at the time said.
Arnold’s death was the first homicide in Natchez-Adams County this year.
The Natchez Police Department had no new information on the case, Chief Mike Mullins said Wednesday.
